It’s
been a few days since the Denver Nuggets gave forward Nene an indefinite
leave of absence to deal with a private medical issue, and though we’d hoped to
at least provide you the specifics of what the Brazilian big man is going
through before posting something about it, it’s probably best to cease ignoring
the ongoing issue.  

All sorts of rumors have flown around the internet since
Nene left the team, and while we’re going to pass on passing anything along
until Nene’s reps give us something definite (and would hope that you would
show the same tact in the comments section), it does appear that the
Nuggets forward will be undergoing surgery of some kind on Tuesday.

Of course, this does little to assuage the fears of his
teammates. Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post talked to Marcus Camby this
weekend:

"Just heard he
was dealing with some personal stuff, and we should know more in the next
couple of days," Camby said. "They say it’s health-related, but I
don’t know specifics. Now we’re just waiting to see what happens. This
basketball stuff is fantasy. The stuff off the court is reality, real life. So
you just hope everything is all right."
