One of the first sports blogs of any note, THE WIZZNUTZZ made life pretty
happenin’ in the pre-Deadspin landscape; an era when where most sportswriting
that made it to the front of a dot com page had to be wrung through the edited
wringer a hundred times before even seeing the light of day. Every one of their
updates is breathlessly awaited, and yesterday’s
post is a good reason why.
We’ll let the mind behind the site start it off:
"So a few weeks ago Free Darko dug up a awesome personal letter from then-Prez Bill
Clinton to then-Fab-Fiver Chris Webber offering encouragement after CWebbs
magical timeout cost them the championship game."
WIZZNUTZZ then manages to unearth a
series of letters sent by then-President Richard M. Nixon to then-Bullet
guard Kevin Loughery (pictured coaching the Miami Heat, above).
The warning is here: our 37th President wasn’t the most tolerant
of sorts, he’s on record (well, tape, really) of being pretty nasty toward
certain religious groups, races, puppies, etc. This
is a bit of fun, the letters don’t exist, and it’s a joke. Treat it as such.
