Game to pay attention to: Portland at New Orleans

January 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Yeah, so my parents probably named me after a guy that looks
like Baba Booey,
and who wears white bicycle shorts. So what? Who were you named after? Jerkface McGee? Probably.

There is big internet buzz about this game (get it? BZZZ!), and it’s
deserved. The Trail Blazers continue to play well, and the Hornets show no
signs of letting up. In fact, a Hornets win coupled with a Suns loss tonight to
the Timberwolves (don’t laugh, Minnesota’s
already beaten the Suns
) would move the Hornets into a virtual tie with Phoenix a top the Western
Conference.

New Orleans
… first place in the West? As good as they’ve been this year, that’s still
incredible. Not unlike John
Davidson
.

Portland
is really starting to impress with the team’s offensive spacing. It doesn’t
quite clear the floor in a 1-4 set ripped from Larry Brown’s days in
Philadelphia, rather, there’s movement and good shooters and the face-up jump
shot isn’t always encouraged, though often made. Throw in a slow-down offense
and solid rebounding, and there’s a reason why the Trail Blazers don’t lose
many leads, or falter down the stretch of games.

For now, let’s get to a batch of links previewing the game …
