Game to pay attention to: Rockets vs. Heat

December 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Houston
at Miami

Apologies all around, but there aren’t a lot of great games
worth taking in tonight.

Milwaukee/Orlando seems like it could be a close one, the
Bucks are playing defense, Orlando’s offense is kind of iffy, but Michael
Redd
’s status forces me to pass on recommending it to the sorts of people that
are commenting on our Power Rankings.

(By the way, it does sting a little when the mugs don’t seem
to get what Skeets and I write on other posts, and while I wouldn’t want to
speak for Skeets, I did read the entire comment section of this post while
pumping my fist. In a happy times sorta way. Power Rankings are for
troglodytes, so if we’re getting it wrong, that means we’re getting it right.)

Beyond that, Philly/Charlotte is worth keeping half an eye
on, half of the Bulls are in Utah
to take on half of the Jazz, Sacramento/Portland not so much, and
Hornets/Clippers probably … eh, not so much.

So, while I don’t like asking you to watch the Rockets
again, a Houston/Miami matchup seems the most interesting to me. Plus, what
other matchup would leave you with an excuse to post a picture of Rony Seikaly
dunking on Hakeem Olajuwon. Sure, there might be some Raptors/Magic games
coming up, but the picture wouldn’t have the same panache. And while I don’t
want to speak for Skeets again, the man has four names. And his second middle
name is "Panache."

Not saying it’s going to be the closest, if either of these
teams walked by 22 I wouldn’t be surprised, but this contest does feature two
team trying to pull away from their own particular early season malaise. And I have a feeling that the Heat are a lot better than what they’ve shown us.

Houston Rockets:
9-5, 89.1 possessions per game (25th), 103.8 points scored per 100
possessions (20th), 100.3 points allowed per 100 possessions (5th).
Roll With It.

Miami Heat: 7-6, 91 possessions per game (18th),
108.6 points scored per 100 (8th), 104.2 points allowed per 100 (10th).
